Hello and thank you for reading this post! I am very new to 3dF but was successful in creating a viable mesh of a ceramic piece that a friend of mine made. As my 3D software I use C4D r17 and have had no problems with importing the.OBJ file of the ceramic piece. However, when I try to import the.MTL file to accompany the mesh, all that occurs is that the.MTL file makes the mesh transparent.
Importing a C4D software into 3DS Max is not possible. At least in version 8, 9, 10 it wasn't possible. The method which works best is to use a 3rd party software which allows you to import the C4D file with export to 3DS capability. One of this software is listed and reviewed on Software Informer and it is called. It is known for its large file support. You can use it to import your file and then export it to 3DS Max format.Use the import function built into the main menu and select your image then use Export/Save as.
And choose the output format you please and you're done!
You are now ready to import the AutoCAD file into 3ds Max and use it to create the general structure of the 3D room.Set up the units:The AutoCAD file you are importing is measured in feet and inches. It is best to use the same units setting in 3ds Max. Start 3ds Max.
From the Customize menu, choose Units Setup. In the Units Setup dialog, choose US Standard Feet With Fractional Inches.
Leave the other values set to their defaults, and then click OK.Import the DWG file:. From the Application menu, choose Import.3ds Max opens a Select File To Import dialog. Browse to the folder importAutoCADfiles and choose the file wt2dplan.dwg, or use the one you created yourself in the first lesson. After a pause, an AutoCAD DWG/DXF Import Options dialog appears.
If you get a warning about proxy objects, just click Yes.Adjust the import options:. On the Geometry tab of the AutoCAD DWG/DXF Import Options dialog, leave the settings at their defaults. (These are shown in the following illustration.) Before you click OK, you must change settings on the Layers tab.
